We met Doryan Ahn, CEO of IRO, International Review and Rating Optimization platform company. We inquired about his company and vision from him, who has visited 73 countries and has a splendid work history of Samsung, KOTRA, Kim & Chang, Gyeonggi Provincial Government, and Decathlon. The following is a Q&A with Ahn Do-hyun.
– What kind of company is IRO Co., Ltd.?
In a very simple way, you can think of it as ‘a writing test scoring group for university entrance exams that issues a TOEIC score certificate’. IRO is a global non-face-to-face review and evaluation platform. We connect companies and companies, and people and people, and issue certificates for them, and conduct non-face-to-face evaluations to issue certificates for products, projects, and brands.

In other words, I help companies by acting as the platform's accelerator and scoring through global corporations and networks for the four dominant elements of the market which are evaluation, award, certification, and screening.

– What motivated you to create this platform?
We have always been predicting the future and analyzing the core values of the industry. In the past, Samsung C&T's Management Support Office and New Business Strategy Team worked on various new businesses and global business opportunities, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Investment Promotion Division conducted various market research, overseas business trips, and benchmarking to attract global companies to Korea. And at ‘Decathlon’, a French sports distribution company, he was in charge of store location analysis and strategy for entering Southeast Asia.
This is what I felt while consulting with KOTRA and the Gangwon Provincial Government on investment and export, and the difficulty in attracting investment and developing markets in Korea was that it was difficult to meet genuine buyers or find investors through participation in exhibitions.
In order to minimize their time, genuine buyers and investors conduct pre-examination, evaluation, and consultation on products that have been verified through the brand. I thought that Korean companies and products were not well prepared for this.
When introducing numerous Korean items, buyers who are reluctant to meet are trying to meet each other when they introduce that they are number 1 in sales and number 1 in Korea. If you create a solution that connects buyers and investors through credible brand screening and evaluation I thought it would be nice. To this end, we decided to introduce technology to evaluate judges and develop a transparent and fair screening platform that connects blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data in the 4th industry.

In the meantime, I have traveled to 73 countries, flew 652 times, and created various information and knowledge while visiting numerous companies. If I create a business model that can maximize this through a list of more than 40,000 buyers, it will help Korean companies advance into the world. I thought it would help expand the market.
-What is the performance of IRO?
Within 7 months of its establishment, it generated approximately 70 million won in sales. It is still in the start-up stage, and we plan to secure better items through various screenings.
We have secured a letter of intent of investment worth approximately KRW 45 billion.
Currently, 12 regional headquarters have been established in Korea, with 15 advisors, 15 global marketers, 10 committee chairman, and 500 judges from 25 countries. Examination items are expanding globally, such as attracting 10 billion won of investment to screening companies and entering Hualien Department Store in China.
IRO is connected from ‘Doryan Solutions’, a Malaysian corporation established in 2016. This corporation is a company that imports and operates theme parks, chicken franchises, Bingsoo ice, kids cafes, cosmetics, and children's toys from Korea and conducts consulting. In the end, we withdrew our stores and brands for various reasons, and started consulting, certification, and planning.
A thorough analysis of the failure factors in Malaysia has been condensed into four factors. To certify global judges, we established an IT corporation in Singapore in 2019 and developed an IRO platform. When I came to Korea after Corona, I established IRO Co., Ltd. in November 2020 and conducted an examination with a blockchain expert from Samsung Soft Research Center and a doctor of problem solving algorithms from an American researcher.
For non-face-to-face screening and initial branding, we decided that Korea was the best place for quick decision-making and infrastructure, and as a result, we are quickly securing judges.
We created an algorithm that verifies and evaluates judges through blockchain technology, the most reliable technology, and applied for a patent for the first time in the world. Patents and trademarks are protected through ‘blockchain-based IRO information management system and method (Application No. 10-2020-0078436)’.
Since the judges of the IRO have their own ratings, the ups and downs are decided according to the examination results, so there is less possibility of manipulation and fraud, and they are registered as experts according to the results of the evaluation. It is difficult to maintain a simple degree or academic background for a long time, but it is maintained through objective and in-depth evaluation.

– What are your plans for the future?
Currently, the IRO is in the process of negotiating a legal entity in Australia and the US. Within two years, we will expand the scope of the IRO's committee, expand the global judges to more than 10,000 in 100 countries, and expand the platform through agreements with major shopping malls and investment groups.
In the UK, legislation has been passed to ban fake reviews and ratings. A related bill is expected to be passed in Korea and others in the future. The goal is to bring IROs to Facebook, Amazon, etc. wherever reviews are needed.
In the past, working with Jews at French companies, they gained market dominance through screening, evaluation, certification and awards, and became market leaders through efficient and rapid decision-making. Evaluation, award, certification, and examination are important in all fields such as wine, diamond, copper, coffee, and ships, and I believe that IRO members will lead high value-added core values such as patents, copyrights, and NFTs through the IRO platform.
– What are the strengths of an IRO as a global talent capable of multitasking?
